Replace missing teeth for good
At Bollington Dental Practice, we place & restore dental implants with custom-made crowns or bridges.
We provide the placement and the restoration work in-house, so there is no referral to another practice and one team is responsible for your result from start to finish. Your replacement teeth are functional, natural-looking, and comfortable.
Many of our implant patients travel to us from Macclesfield and the surrounding villages, and we’re just a ten-minute drive from the town centre with free parking beside the practice. Find out more about visiting us as your dentist in Macclesfield.
What happens during implant treatment
- Consultation and imaging (£180). A detailed assessment of your teeth, gums and bone, with the imaging needed to plan your case properly.
- A written plan with the exact cost. You will know precisely what is involved and what it costs before anything goes ahead.
- Implant placement. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic here at the practice, then left to bond with the bone over a few months.
- Your new tooth. A custom-made crown or bridge is fitted to the implant, matched to your natural teeth.
Dental implant costs
An implant consultation costs £180, and a single implant with its restoration starts from £3,000. The consultation fee includes the assessment and imaging, and you will receive a written treatment plan with the exact cost before anything goes ahead. All prices are on our fees page, and our guide to what dental implants cost in the UK explains what is included and why prices vary so much between practices.
Dental implants in Macclesfield
If you are looking for dental implants in Macclesfield, it is worth knowing where the work is actually carried out. A number of practices assess you locally and then refer you elsewhere for the surgical stage, which means a second team, a second location and often a second set of fees. We place and restore implants here at the practice, so the person planning your case is the person doing it, and you come back to the same familiar surgery at every stage.
You will find us at 19 Bollington Road, Bollington, Macclesfield SK10 5EJ, roughly ten minutes from Macclesfield town centre on the main road through Bollington, with free parking directly outside. Patients travel to us from Macclesfield, Prestbury, Tytherington, Poynton and across the SK10 area. If you are also considering how your smile looks more widely, see our cosmetic dentistry in Macclesfield.
Frequently asked questions
How long do dental implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular hygiene care, implants routinely last decades, and many last a lifetime. They are the closest thing dentistry has to a natural tooth: fixed, comfortable, and strong enough to eat anything.
Does getting a dental implant hurt?
Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients are surprised how comfortable it is, often comparing it to having a filling. Expect some soreness for a few days afterwards, usually managed with ordinary painkillers.
Am I suitable for dental implants?
Most healthy adults are. What matters is healthy gums and enough bone to hold the implant, which is exactly what the consultation and imaging assess. Smoking and untreated gum disease reduce success rates, and we will always tell you honestly if an implant is not the right option for you.
What if I am missing several teeth?
You rarely need one implant per missing tooth. Two or more implants can support a bridge, and implants can also secure loose dentures. We will talk through every option, including conventional bridges and dentures, before you commit to anything.
How long does the whole process take?
A straightforward single implant usually takes three to six months from placement to final crown, because the implant needs time to bond with the bone before it can carry a tooth. Larger cases, or those needing bone grafting, take longer. You will have a timeline specific to your case in your written plan before treatment starts.

What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are widely regarded as one of the best ways of replacing missing teeth. They are a long-term solution that can provide a natural-looking and secure replacement for one or more missing teeth.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that is carefully placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once healed, the implant can support a crown, bridge, or denture.
Dental implants can often provide an excellent alternative to removable dentures or conventional bridgework.
Benefits of Dental Implants
- A natural appearance and feel
- Fixed and secure replacement teeth
- Improved confidence when eating and speaking
- No need to prepare adjacent healthy teeth, unlike some bridges
- Helps preserve the jawbone after tooth loss
- Can improve comfort compared to removable dentures
When a tooth is lost, the surrounding bone naturally shrinks over time. One of the major advantages of dental implants is that they help maintain the bone by restoring function to the area.
What to Expect at Your Initial Consultation
Initial implant consultations usually take approximately 45 minutes.
This first appointment is designed to assess your suitability for dental implant treatment and discuss the options available to you.
Your consultation may include:
- A full dental assessment
- Medical history review
- Photographs of your teeth and mouth
- Dental radiographs where appropriate
- Discussion of treatment options
- Explanation of risks, benefits, and alternatives
- Preliminary treatment planning
Every patient is different, and some patients may require a further consultation and additional planning before treatment can be confirmed.
Am I Suitable for Dental Implants?
Many patients are suitable for implant treatment, although this depends on several factors including:
- General oral health
- Gum health
- Bone levels and bone quality
- Medical history
- Smoking status
- Bite and tooth wear patterns
If implants are not suitable, alternative options will always be discussed.
The Implant Treatment Process
Although every case is different, implant treatment commonly involves the following stages:
- Consultation & Planning
Assessment, scans, and detailed planning.
- Implant Placement
The implant is placed carefully into the jawbone under local anaesthetic. Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the procedure is.
- Healing Period
The implant is allowed time to heal and integrate with the bone. This commonly takes several weeks to a few months depending on the case. Sometimes a number of appointments are needed at this stage.
- Restoration
Once healing is complete, the final crown, bridge, or implant overdenture is then made and then fitted. This generally is over a number of visits.
Is Implant Treatment Painful?
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and is generally very well tolerated. Most patients describe the recovery as easier than expected.
Some swelling, bruising, or mild discomfort can occur afterwards, but this is usually manageable with routine pain relief.
For nervous patients, sedation options may also be discussed where appropriate.
Long-Term Maintenance
Dental implants require ongoing maintenance and regular dental reviews to help keep them healthy long-term.
Good oral hygiene and regular professional maintenance appointments are extremely important for long-term success.
While dental implants have very high success rates, no dental treatment can ever be guaranteed for life.

- Healing and osseointegration: The implant integrates with the jawbone over 3-6 months, providing a stable foundation for the crown or bridge. You may need a temporary solution for your missing teeth during this healing phase.
- Restoration: Once healing is complete, we take impressions or scans, then fit a custom-made crown or bridge designed to match your natural teeth.

Fantastic care. My teenage daughter broke her front tooth badly. Within 4 hours of calling, they were able to squeeze in an emergency appointment, and Ellie and the team did the most fantastic cosmetic repair, such that it looked like nothing had happened at all. Really good service, and really appreciated. Thank you.

I hadn’t visited a dentist for many years as I wear dentures. However, I needed some new dentures, and as I live in Bollington, I decided to book at my local surgery. I cannot praise them enough. They were very easy to deal with, and Ellie, the dentist who took care of me, was very helpful and reassuring. I highly recommend the surgery.
