Tooth Extraction in Bollington & Macclesfield.
Gentle, unhurried tooth removal from £126, with honest advice on what to do next.
Nobody wants to lose a tooth, and at Bollington Dental Practice extraction is always the last resort rather than the first suggestion. Where a tooth can sensibly be saved, with a filling, root canal treatment or a crown, we will tell you so, along with the honest costs of each option. When removal genuinely is the right choice, we make it as calm and comfortable as possible.
When is an extraction needed?
Common reasons include a tooth broken or decayed beyond repair, advanced gum disease, infection that cannot be resolved with root canal treatment, and problem wisdom teeth. Whatever the cause, we will explain why we are recommending removal and what your options are afterwards, before anything happens.
Does having a tooth out hurt?
The area is fully numbed with local anaesthetic before we begin, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Most straightforward extractions are over in minutes. If you are nervous, tell us, and we will go at your pace. Some tenderness for a few days afterwards is normal and settles with ordinary painkillers.
Wisdom teeth
We assess and remove wisdom teeth where the position of the tooth makes this straightforward. Some wisdom teeth, particularly deeply impacted ones close to nerves, are safer removed by an oral surgeon, and if that applies to you we will say so and refer you to the right specialist rather than attempt it regardless.
Tooth extraction cost
Extractions at Bollington Dental Practice start from £126, with the exact price depending on the complexity of the tooth. You will always be given the cost in a written treatment plan before treatment. All our prices are on our fees page.
Aftercare
We will send you home with clear aftercare instructions: bite on the gauze to settle the socket, avoid rinsing for the first day, then gentle salt-water rinses, no smoking while healing, and soft food on the other side. If anything does not feel right in the days afterwards, call us and we will see you.
Replacing an extracted tooth
A gap is not always a problem, but replacing a lost tooth often protects your bite and stops neighbouring teeth from drifting. Depending on your case, the options are a dental implant, a bridge or a denture, and we offer all three, so our advice is based on what suits you.
Booking and emergencies
If you are in pain now, see our emergency dentist page or call us straight away on 01625 574609. Otherwise, existing patients can book directly with reception, and new patients start with an initial examination (£89 including X-rays) so we can properly assess the tooth first. You can also email reception@bollingtondental.co.uk.
