From Disley you can be sitting in our chair in about a quarter of an hour, which surprises people who assumed their nearest good options meant queueing into Stockport or New Mills. Come through Higher Poynton or over the lanes past Lyme Park and you reach Bollington, where our independent, family-run practice has been caring for Cheshire smiles since 1977. We publish every price, answer our phones, and let new patients book their first examination online, any hour you like.

Why patients travel from Disley

  • About 15 minutes away, against town traffic in the other direction
  • 5.0 on Google from more than 160 verified reviews
  • Independent since 1977, with several families now into their third generation with us
  • Every price published up front on the fees page
  • Free parking beside the door, no meters, no multi-storey

Complete dentistry in one place

The essentials are simple and openly priced: a new patient examination is £89 including any X-rays, hygiene appointments are £60 or £89 with a £20 Airflow add-on for stubborn staining, and fillings start from £95. Our plan, from £15.95 a month, wraps the year’s routine care into one predictable amount.

Beyond the essentials, Disley patients come to us for Philips Zoom whitening at £375 complete, ClearCorrect aligners from £2,499, veneers and composite bonding, and the full range of restorative work: crowns from £600, dentures from £625, root canal treatment from £305, and implants planned with 3D imaging (£180 consultation) and placed in-house from £3,000.

If something breaks or hurts, our emergency slots run daily where possible, at standard prices with no emergency premium.

What patients say

“I can honestly say they all go that extra mile making sure that they fully explain the procedure and put you at ease. Nothing is too much trouble and make sure you are seen as soon as possible.” Susan, five-star Google review

“Very friendly atmosphere. The practitioners I have seen were understanding of my fear and I can honestly say I’m no longer worried about booking another appointment when needed.” Judy Ainsworth, five-star Google review

“This has been my dentist for years and continues to offer excellent service both from the dentist and the hygienist who are professional and thorough.” Glenn Marshall, five-star Google review

Gentle dentistry for anxious patients

Some of the patients who make the fifteen-minute journey from Disley once could not make themselves walk into any dental practice at all. What changed for them was not bravery but pace. Anxious patients here are given unhurried appointments with room to breathe, and the rule is simple: your dentist describes each thing before it happens, in as much or as little detail as you want, and does not begin until you are ready.

The control is genuinely yours. Stop signals are agreed in advance and honoured instantly, breaks are normal, and a first appointment that turns out to be mostly conversation is counted a success, not a waste. Fear usually shrinks when nothing is ever sprung on you, and we make sure nothing ever is.

The proof sits in public view on Google, where many of our five-star reviews come from patients who describe years of avoidance before their first visit here. Their words say more than ours can. If nerves have kept you from a dentist, tell reception when you ring; the whole team will know before you arrive, and the appointment will be shaped accordingly. Some anxious patients like every detail narrated, others prefer to know as little as possible and think about Lyme Park instead; both are catered for, because the right amount of information is whatever amount keeps you calm.

If it has been a while

A6 traffic, shift work, a dentist who retired, an appointment cancelled and never rebooked: gaps in dental care happen to sensible people all the time, and in a village like Disley the nearest option was never exactly on the doorstep anyway. However long it has been, come as you are. We see the state of the teeth, not the story behind them, and there is no judgement waiting in the chair.

Your first step is an ordinary £89 new patient examination, after which you will know precisely where you stand: what is fine, what needs watching, and what deserves treatment, with honest priorities rather than a maximal shopping list. For those expecting bad news, our guide to what can be done for neglected teeth shows just how much is fixable these days, and it is usually more than people dare hope.

If you are registered elsewhere and simply want a change, records transfer is simple. With your consent we request your history and X-rays from your current practice, and there is nothing more for you to organise. Patients from the Disley side often tell us the switch was the easiest part of the whole business. Once you are with us, staying on top of things gets easier too, because a practice fifteen minutes from home, with parking at the door, is one you actually get round to visiting rather than one more thing on the someday list.

From car park to care plan

Whether you come through Higher Poynton or over the lanes past Lyme Park, the appointment starts the moment you pull into the free parking directly beside the practice; no circling, no ticket machine. First up is your medical history, taken properly, because conditions and medications you might not connect with dentistry often matter a great deal to it.

Next, the examination. It is comprehensive: each tooth inspected, existing dental work assessed, X-rays taken whenever they are needed, gum health measured rather than glanced at, and a mouth cancer screening of your cheeks, tongue and soft tissues included as standard. Expect to learn more about your mouth in this one visit than in years of hurried check-ups.

The appointment ends with a plan, not a bill you did not see coming. Your dentist walks you through everything found, and if treatment is advisable you receive it in writing with the exact price of every item spelled out. You decide at your own speed, back home in Disley if you prefer, and nothing at all goes ahead until you have said yes. The whole examination, X-rays included, is £89.

Allow around an hour for the visit itself. Bringing a current list of medications speeds things up, as does knowing roughly when your last dental X-rays were taken, though neither is essential. If you have old records with a previous practice, mention it and we can arrange for copies to reach us before treatment planning begins.

Looking after every generation

Families in SK12 villages know the value of doing things in one trip, so we make family dentistry work that way. All ages are welcome here, from first teeth to final ones, and wherever possible we aim to offer NHS care for children free of charge, which takes the sting out of bringing the whole crew.

Back-to-back family appointments are the practical heart of it: book the household in sequence, drive over from Disley once, and have everyone examined in a single visit. Parents can sit in with younger children, older children can start being seen on their own when they are ready, and grandparents are as welcome in the diary as anyone.

With small children we play the long game. First visits are deliberately light, more introduction than inspection, so the surgery becomes familiar territory rather than a place of dread; our page on a child’s first visit explains how to prepare them and what will actually happen. Along the way we teach brushing that really works and give parents plain guidance on sugar and fluoride, because the cheapest filling is the one a child never needs.

Who we are

Three names tell the story of this practice: David King, who established it in 1977; Heather Belfield, under whom it grew; and Dr Ellie Burrows, the principal dentist who leads it today. Nearly fifty years on, it is still independent and still family-run, a rarity worth the drive over from the A6 in itself.

Behind Ellie stands a clinical team of five dentists, two hygienists and a dental therapist, all GDC-registered. That depth matters to patients from Disley in a practical way: appointments are easier to find, second opinions live down the corridor, and complex work rarely means being referred off to a city clinic.

We think a practice should belong to its area, so we sponsor Macclesfield FC, the children’s teams at Bollington United FC and Bollington Cricket Club, and many of the team live locally, in and around the villages our patients come from. When you have looked after the same hills since 1977, from Lyme Park down to the Bollington valley, the line between patients and neighbours mostly disappears. That continuity is the quiet advantage of an independent practice: the people treating you expect to still be treating you in ten years, and they make decisions accordingly.

Pricing without surprises

Nobody should discover the cost of their dentistry after the event. Our answer is total openness: every price we charge sits on the fees page for anyone to read, before booking, before travelling, before sitting down. Compare us with anywhere in Disley, New Mills or Stockport at your leisure; we are happy to be checked.

Openness continues into treatment. Whatever your examination reveals, recommendations arrive as a written plan with an exact figure against each item, agreed with you before any work is scheduled. The number you approve is the number you pay.

If you prefer routine care as a predictable monthly amount, the dental plan costs £15.95 a month and covers an annual examination with mouth cancer screening, two hygiene visits a year and routine X-rays, along with 15% off most treatments and worldwide dental emergency cover, which has rescued more than one member’s holiday. Do note that hygiene appointments are reserved for patients examined by us within the last year, so the examination is always the first booking for someone new.

The deeper point behind all this is trust. When prices are public and plans are written, you never have to wonder whether a recommendation is for your benefit or ours, and that certainty is worth as much as the pounds themselves. It is a large part of why patients keep making the drive over from the Disley side year after year.

A little planning makes the trip from Disley even easier. We are open Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 5:15pm, and on Friday from 8:30am to 2pm, so early birds can be examined and back over the hill before the day has properly filled up. Morning slots suit anyone who likes their errands done before lunch, while later afternoon appointments earlier in the week work well for those coming over after work. Friday’s shorter day is worth remembering when booking check-ups or hygiene visits, and if a tooth starts complaining towards the end of the week, ringing first thing gives us the best chance of seeing you before the weekend. Reception will always help you find a time that fits neatly around the journey.

Frequently asked questions

Are you taking on new patients from Disley?

Yes, new private patients are welcome from Disley, Newtown and High Lane. Book the £89 new patient examination online with Dr Ellie Burrows whenever suits. We cannot take new NHS adults at present; see your NHS options.

Usually, yes. The run over from Disley avoids the A6 crawl, and with parking next to our door there is no hunt for a space at the other end.

Can nervous patients be looked after?

Gently, yes. Unhurried appointments, everything explained before it happens, and nothing done until you are comfortable. Many of our five-star reviews are from patients who dreaded dentistry for years.
